Charter Launch Event

We are pleased that the new & improved Highland Charter for Climate, Nature & Health was launched on 14th May 2024 at the Inverness Botanical Gardens. The partners behind the Charter - Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, Think Health Think Nature, Highland Adapts & Highland Environment Forum - organised the event to celebrate collective action for Climate, Nature & Health.

The Middle Greenhouse was taken over by the Highland Charter for Climate, Nature & Health to create a space which celebrated the impact of the previous Highland Charter for Climate, and set out our vision for the rejuvenated Charter. The partnership behind the Charter emphasised how we can come together and what influence the Charter has on making the Highland region more sustainable, and better for climate, nature & health. A special focus was placed on public health to explore the role of green and blue health in improving physical and mental wellbeing.

As part of the campaign behind launching the Charter, a new website was created whereby individuals, communities and organisations can sign the Charter and view the pledges already being committed. As you are reading this blog on that website, go and explore our signatories page!

Throughout the launch, it was emphasises how the Charter enables action, but relies on its signatories to make that action happen. So now it is over to you. By committing to the Highland Charter for Climate, Nature & Health, you are taking a step towards a greener Highland whose nature prospers.
